This Year's Model Updates:

The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

  • THE BEST EYT - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This is my second Z71, both were good, but this is this best. I have everything but the leather seats and with the way I play, I didnt want it. Performance is A1, sound system A1, dual heating/air A1, cant say enough about the way the whole truck is setup. Best yet in my book!! Had one of the first ford F150 three drs and it couldnt come close to this truck. Need to pass, see ya in my dust!!

  • Love my chevy - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

My chevy truck performs excellently I have had no problems with it. It gets great milage for a full size truck. I get 21 miles around town, I havent gone any long distances yet. I have plenty of power to pull a trailer or boat with no problems at all. I love the lay out of the inside over the f-150 or the Dodge Ram. The chevy sits just the right height you dont have to climb into the truck like you do with the Dodge. The Chevy is more comfortable and has alot better ride than either the Ford f-150 or Dodge Ram.

I enjoy the comfort of the vehicle. The only downfall I see is it lacks passing power, it takes a while to kick down and accelerate.

Comfortable, reliable and solid construction. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that did not have a rattle or squeak somewhere at sometime. I am 65 years old and have owned a lot of vehicles in my life and the is at the top of my list as far as quality, comfort and performance. I purchased a 1966 442 with a 3.90 and 4 speed muncie in November of 1965 which I still own today. The 5.3 Silverado is the closest thing I have owned in performance to that excellent old 442. I do not care about the overhead cams, 3 and 4 valves per cylinder, etc. I love my Chevrolet Silverado.

2004 Chev 1500 Ext cab 5.3 V8 Z71 Ive only had the truck for three weeks so my review will be very limited. Over all the truck has a nice ride and good amount of power. The only problem so far I’ve had is the back window doesnt seal properly and makes wind noises but im sure it can easily be fixed. It’s the little things in this truck that make the difference, like controls on the wheel for the radio, tinted and heated mirrors, block heater etc...

  • Disappointed with GM - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Have taken two extended trips and average 17mpg. Engine performance is acceptable, except to pull any grades must keep in trailering mode to keep trans from downshifting and over- reving. Have 12000 miles now and at 5000 developed clunk in the trans/driveline that is getting worse. GM says "normal" and refuses to fix. Cab roof is flimsy--buckles if windows rolled down at 60mph.

love my truck even with a 32 in. tire Im getting almost 18 miles to the gal. bought it with 108 thousand miles on it and its still strong. there are a few things that do kinda bug me though i have no tach it just doesnt work and the speedometer works when it feels like it and the lights work sometimes off and on mainly running lights and the rear windows roll up and down by themselves.
